Hurricane Sandy Updates
Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Because of this unprecedented storm, we have made the following itinerary updates. As this is a fluid situation, please check back here for ongoing changes.
Caribbean Princess
October 27 departure (Voyage B237)
4-day Sampler cruise
Updated as of October 31, 2012 at 1:00pm PDT
Passengers onboard are currently in Boston and have just received an update from their Captain.
We have been in discussions with the US Coast Guard regarding when the port of New York may be cleared to reopen. They have advised that the process of surveying the New York Harbor has begun and is expected to be completed on Thursday. Although the port remains closed at this time, we are optimistic that the channel leading to our terminal will be open allowing us to disembark passengers on Friday at Pier 88 in Manhattan. This is of course a very fluid situation and we will advise passengers onboard of any further updates from the Coast Guard that may alter our plans.
Based on the current information Caribbean Princess has made plans to take on additional fuel in Boston before they depart later this evening. The gangway will remain open for passengers to go ashore and enjoy another evening in Boston provided they are back onboard no later than 9:30pm tonight. The ship will sail once fueling is complete and plans to arrive in New York at 7:00am on Friday morning.
As the weather conditions continue to improve each day we expect Caribbean Princess to experience much better conditions as they sail towards New York.
We understand the impact of Hurricane Sandy on our passengers' cruise holiday has been unprecedented. The Officers and Crew have sincerely enjoyed serving those passengers onboard and hope that they are continuing to enjoy their time with us.
In recognition of the extreme circumstances, and as a gesture of goodwill, we are offering compensation to all passengers onboard in the form of a Future Cruise Credit. The full details of this credit will be communicated once we are underway and the full impact on our voyage is known.
Caribbean Princess
October 31 departure (Voyage B238)
